Today, May, 20,2018 in the day of Pentecost, the Anglican Church of Tanzania has enthroned Bishop Maimbo William Fabian Mndolwa, the bishop of the Diocese of Tanga, as the seventh Primate and Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Tanzania. Bishop Mndolwa has been officially enthroned in the service held at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in city of Dodoma.

The enthronement service which was officiated by Archbishop Dr. Jacob Erasto Chimeledya, was attended by various religious leaders and government officials, including the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Honorable Majaliwa Kassim Majaliwa, who represented the guest of honour, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Honourable Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli.

The service was attended by various international guests, including the bishop of Rochester, UK, Right Reverend James Langstaff, who represented the Archbishop of Canterbury, The Most Revd and Rt Hon Justin Welby.

Many visitors were impressed by the symbols of peace in Tanzania by witnessing the presence of senior government officials from nonChristian denominations using the Bible to convey a message of peace to the community. In his sermon, Archbishop Mndolwa promised to promote peace in the country in cooperation with the government. He said, when he spoke to the President, he registered his intention to call on the State House and meet with the President of Zanzibar to promote peace and prosperity. Archbishop Mndolwa also insisted that he will meet with other Christian and nonChristian leaders for the sake of maintaining national peace.

As the Prime Minister delivered his speech, he emphasized that the Anglican Church of Tanzania has been in the forefront of promoting peace and that he will continue to cooperate with the church in all aspects of significant importance for the nation. He personally expressed his gratitude to the former Archbishop, The Most Rev Dr. Jacob Chimeledya for his outstanding achievements. Also, the Prime Minister praised the work done by the former Archbishop’s predecessors.

He advised the newly enthroned Archbishop that he should not fear as the shoes worn by his predecessors, completely fit him. The Prime Minister said he will closely corporate with the newly enthroned Archbishop and assured him that he will identify him with favorite form of naming: Maimbo William Fabian Mndolwa. Under the Constitution of the Anglican Church of Tanzania, Bishop Mndolwa will serve as Archbishop for a period of five years.

The church invites all Christians to pray for the Primate and Archbishop Mndolwa in his service. Archbishop Mndolwa was born in Korogwe-Tanga, Tanzania, on 24/11/1969. His parents are Mndolwa Fabian Maimbo and Kauye-Agnes Mbelwa. Archbishop Mndolwa is the bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Tanga.

He was consecrated into the order of a bishop on 04/9/2012. Archbishop Mndolwa is a Church historian, he has a PhD degree in theology, Church and Politics. Archbishop Mndolwa is married. His wife is Chenga Frida whom together they have been blessed with four children: Msagati-Katindi, Prisna-Kauye, Tahona and Challenge.
